Charles Wood
WOOD, Charles. b. Armagh, Ireland, 15 June 1866; d. Cambridge, 12 July 1926. One of the first scholarship students at the Royal College of Music, he studied with Charles Villiers Stanford* (1883-87). In 1888 he was appointed to the teaching staff of the College; he continued to be associated with the institution for the rest of his life as an instructor in harmony and composition. After winning an organ scholarship to Selwyn College, Cambridge, he migrated to Gonville and Caius College in 1889 and was made a fellow of the college in 1894.
