Lord and Master, who hast called us
Lord and Master, who hast called us. Florence Smith* (1885- ?).
The entry on Florence Smith is an attempt to dispose of several biographical errors, but is unable to give a place or date of death. This hymn was dated ca. 1911 or 1913. It was included in A&MR, which dates it 1911 (‘Index of Authors and Translators’, p. xliii). It appears also in the Anglican Hymn Book (1965), The Moravian Hymn Book and Liturgy (1975) and in CH3, all of which date it ca. 1913.
In A&MR it was printed in a section entitled ‘Societies and Meetings’. According to Frost (1962) it was written for St Christopher’s College, Blackheath, with which Florence Smith had some connection. It is a most useful hymn...
