John Raphael Peacey

PEACEY, John Raphael. b. Hove, Sussex, 16 July 1896; d. Brighton, Sussex, 31 October 1971. He was educated at St Edmund’s School, Canterbury. From school he joined the army: during the Great War (1914-1918) he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Sussex Royal Garrison Artillery, serving in France from 1915 to 1918, after which he was awarded the Military Cross. On demobilisation he entered Selwyn College, Cambridge as a Scholar, graduating with First Class Honours in the Theological Tripos (BA 1922, MA 1926).
