Longing for light, we wait in darkness (‘Christ, be our light’)

Longing for light, we wait in darkness (‘Christ, be our light’). Bernadette Farrell* (1957- ).  This hymn is frequently known as ‘Christ, be our light’, from the first line of the refrain. It was published in 1993 by the Oregon Catholic Press (OCP) in Portland, Oregon. Since its first publication, with Farrell’s own tune, it has become widely known and much loved in many countries. It has appeared in subsequent OCP books, including Journeysongs (2003), Glory and Praise (2015) and One in Faith (2015).
