Forth rode the knights of old. Vera Evaline Walker* (1887-1979).
Written ca. 1912 or shortly after, and suggested by a book by Basil Mathews*, The Splendid Quest. Stories of knights on the pilgrims’ way (1911). It was published in the Children’s Magazine of the Baptist Missionary Society, and then by the London Missionary Society. It was included in School Worship (1926), and then in MHB and CP. It was also included in The School Hymn Book of the Methodist Church (1950) and in Sunday School Praise (1958):
