Edmund Robert Morgan
MORGAN, Edmund Robert. b. Kensington, London, 28 July 1888; d. 21 September 1979. He was educated at New College, Oxford (BA 1911, MA 1916). After taking Holy Orders (deacon 1913, priest 1914) he was a curate at Farnham (1913-15) and Eastleigh (1915-19), before becoming chaplain to the Bishop of Winchester (1919-23), Warden of the College of the Ascension, Selly Oak, Birmingham (1923-26) and Assistant Secretary, the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (1930-36). He was rector of Old Alresford (1936-42) and Archdeacon of Winchester (1936-43) before being appointed Suffragan Bishop of Southampton (1943-51) and Bishop of Truro (1951-59). He retired to Salisbury.
