Allen Carden

CARDEN, Allen Dickinson.  b. Virginia or Tennessee, 13 October 1792; d. Franklin, Tennessee, 21 March 1859.  Carden compiled Missouri Harmony, first published in 1820. According to a copy of the Carden family Bible in the Tennessee State Library and Archives, the family moved from Fincastle, Botetourt County, Virginia, to Williamsport, Maury County, Tennessee, situated about 50 miles southwest of Nashville.  Although the year of the move is not given in the Bible, some accounts indicate that Carden was born in Virginia, and show his year of birth as 1792.  However, the 1850 federal census indicates that Carden was born in 1796 in Tennessee.
