Zion’s Harp
Zion’s Harp, or a New Collection of Music (1824).
This musical companion to Asahel Nettleton*’s Village Hymns for Social Worship*, was likely compiled by Nathaniel Jocelyn (1796-1881) and his brother Simeon Smith Jocelyn (1799-1879), whose abbreviated names are included as engravers and printers in the District Clerk’s registration page in the front matter. This page also includes Nettleton’s endorsement, ‘I have been favoured with a copy of the small collection of Music, designed to accompany the Village Hymns. It is neatly executed, and exactly meets my own, and the wishes expressed by many of the friends of Zion.’
