Your harps, ye trembling saints
Your harps, ye trembling saints. Augustus Montague Toplady* (1740-1778).
Beginning with Psalm 137: 2, this was first published in the Gospel Magazine, February 1772, in eight 8-line stanzas, entitled ‘Weak Believers Encouraged’. It is not clear why it was not included in Toplady's Psalms and Hymns (1776), where there are many hymns that refer to harps, or golden harps. It is not in the 1790 edition either; but according to JJ it was printed in Toplady’s Hymns on Sacred Subjects, wherein the fundamental doctrines of Christianity, with many other interesting points, are introduced (1856).
