Written for the Holden Village Retreat Center, Chelan, Washington State, during Haugen’s time as composer-in-residence there in 1985. It is entitled ‘Bring Forth the Kingdom’. It is based on Matthew 5: 13-15, and set to Haugen’s own tune, BRING FORTH, The tune takes its name from the refrain, ‘Bring forth the kingdom of mercy,/ Bring forth the kingdom of peace’.
