William Rowan
ROWAN, William P. b. San Diego, California, 30 November 1951. Born into a military family, William Rowan moved frequently as a child. He was raised in a pre-Vatican II household where access to hymnody was limited. He found a love of hymnody while a student at Southern Illinois University, where he joined the choir at University Lutheran Church in Carbondale. It was in this parish where Rowan discovered the witness of congregational song.
