William M. Runyan
RUNYAN, William Marion. b. Marion, New York, 21 January 1870: d. Pittsburg, Kansas, 29 July 1957. His father, William White Runyan, a clergyman in the Methodist Episcopal Church, upon disability retirement took up farming to support his family. The family moved to Marion, Kansas, in 1884 where young William attended high school and was a church organist. Runyan and Lena Knapp (1873-1957) were married in 1891, and four children were born of that union. From 1892 to 1894 Runyan pastored two churches in the Southwest Kansas Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
