William Hunter
HUNTER, William. b. Ballymena, Ireland, 26 May 1811; d. Cleveland, Ohio, 18 October 1877. His family left Ireland for the USA, ca. 1817, settling at York, Pennsylvania. William was educated there and at Madison College, Pennsylvania. He was ordained as a Methodist Episcopal Church minister, serving in Pennsylvania and Ohio between appointments as editor of the quasi-official denominational periodical The Pittsburgh Christian Advocate, and Professor of Hebrew and Biblical Literature at Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania (1855-70).
