William Caldwell
CALDWELL, William. b. Jefferson County, Tennessee, 24 October 1801; d. Fannin County, Texas, 7 October 1857. Caldwell is known primarily for his fasola shape-note tunebook, Union Harmony (1837) (see Shape-note hymnody*).
His parents were Anthony Caldwell (1751-1832) and Elizabeth Aiken Caldwell (1764-1839). Little is known about his youth. He married Cindrilla (Cinderella?) Blackburn on 31 October 1833 in Jefferson County, Tennessee, and he married Harriet Rebecca Meek (1816-1858) on 9 December 1841, also in Jefferson Co.
