When Jesus came to Jordan
When Jesus came to Jordan. Fred Pratt Green* (1903-2000).
This was written in 1973 at the request of an Australian theology student, Dirk van Dissel, who was at Trinity College, Melbourne at the time. According to Braley, van Dissel was concerned at the lack of a good hymn on the Baptism of Jesus for the forthcoming Australian Hymn Book (WOV, 1977). This three-stanza hymn was the result of correspondence between van Dissel and Pratt Green which ‘discussed several drafts with immense care for detail’ (Braley, 1982, p. 34).
