When I feel my faith will fail. Ada Ruth Habershon* (1861-1918).
Written for the evangelistic campaigns of Charles M. Alexander* and his teacher Reuben Archer Torrey*, this is based on Psalm 139: 10: ‘…thy right hand shall hold me’. normally given the title, ‘He Will Hold Me Fast’, from the refrain:
He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast; For my Saviour loves me so, He will hold me fast.
The four stanzas were:
When I feel my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast; When the tempter would prevail, He can hold me fast. (Refrain)
I could never keep my hold, He must hold me fast; For my love is often cold, He must hold me fast. (Refrain)
I am precious in His sight, He will hold me fast;...
