Waldo Selden Pratt
PRATT, Waldo Selden. b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 10 November 1857; d. Hartford, Connecticut, 29 July 1939. Eminent music historian, church musician, author, educator, and hymnologist, Pratt attended Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts (BA with honors, 1878, MA 1881), with graduate study in Greek and Aesthetics at Johns Hopkins University, during which he worked at the Metropolitan Museum, New York City. In 1882 he joined the faculty of Hartford Seminary, Hartford, Connecticut, where his father, Lewellyn Pratt (1832-1913) was professor of homiletics.
