Valentin Thilo
THILO, Valentin. b. Königsberg, 19 April 1607; d. Königsberg, 27 July 1662. He studied theology and rhetoric at the university of Königsberg. He must have been an outstanding student: the retiring professor of rhetoric, Samuel Fuchs, recommended Thilo as his successor, and the post was kept open for him while he studied for two further years at Leiden (1632-34). He remained at Königsberg as professor, serving also as dean of the faculty (five times) and rector of the university (twice).
