Thomas Scott
SCOTT, Thomas. b. Norwich, 1705, date unknown; d. Hapton, Norfolk, 1775, date unknown. The son of an Independent minister, he was educated at the Kibworth Academy, Leicestershire, under John Jennings, where he was a younger contemporary of Philip Doddridge*. After teaching in a school at Wortwell, Norfolk, and preaching to an Independent congregation at Harleston, he became an assistant minister at Lowestoft in 1733. In 1738 he was appointed assistant minister to Samuel Baxter at St Nicholas Chapel, Ipswich, succeeding him and preaching his funeral sermon in 1740.
