This God is the God we adore

This God is the God we adore. Joseph Hart* (1712-1768). This hymn began life as seven 8-line stanzas, opening with the line ‘No prophet nor dreamer of dreams’, in Hart’s Hymns &c. Composed on Various Subjects. With a Preface, containing a brief and summary account of the Author’s Experience, and the great things God hath done for his soul (1759). Although this is a long text, it is so extraordinary that it needs to be printed it entire, with its title: If there arise among you a Prophet, or a Dreamer of Dreams, &c. Deut. xiii. 1, &c. No Prophet, nor Dreamer of Dreams,  No Master of plausible Speech,To live like an Angel who seems,  Or like an Apostle to preach;No Tempter,...
