Think gently of the erring one. Julia A. Carney* (1823-1908). Published in Hymns for Christian Devotion (Boston, Mass.: N.E. Universalist Publishing House, 1845), edited by John Greenleaf Adams and Edwin Hubbell Chapin (see Unitarian-Universalist hymnody, USA*), where it was in a section entitled ‘Philanthropic Subjects’.
