The works of the Lord are created in wisdom. Christopher Martin Idle* (1938- ). Written in 1976 when the author was rector of Limehouse, East London, and first published in HFTC (1982). Its scriptural reference is given as Job 38: 1-38, in which God answers Job out of the whirlwind with a majestic account of his greatness; but the author acknowledges as his main source two chapters from the Apocrypha, Ecclesiastes 42 and 43. He had in mind the tune STREETS OF LAREDO, although the hymn has since been set to other tunes.
