The voice of God goes out to all the world. Luke Connaughton* (1917-1979).
First published in Sing a New Song to the Lord (Mayhew-McCrimmon, Great Wakering, Essex, 1970), of which Connaughton, or ‘Peter Icarus’ (pseudonym) was the literary editor. This hymn was entitled ‘Christ, the healing word of God’. It had six stanzas. It was included in the United Reformed Church’s New Church Praise (1975), and – appropriately, given Connaughton’s background – in two Roman Catholic hymnals, Worship (Third Edition), edited by Robert Batastini* (Chicgao: GIA Publications, Inc., 1986) and the Canadian Catholic Book of Worship III (Ottawa, 1994).
