The stars declare his glory. Timothy Dudley-Smith* (1926-2024).
Written at Sevenoaks, Kent, in August 1970 (cf. ‘Not to us be glory given’* and ‘Safe in the shadow of the Lord’*), this was a contribution from the author’s assigned quota for Psalm Praise. Unlike some paraphrases and commentaries it approaches Psalm 19 as an undivided whole, a poem comparing the works and the word of God (‘a celebration of nature and Scripture’ — A House of Praise, 2003, p. 369), linked here by the word ‘So’ which begins stanza 3.
