Samuel Johan Hedborn
HEDBORN, Samuel Johan. b. Heda, Östergotland, 14 October 1783; d. Bredestad, 26 December 1849. He began his education late, because his family had no money to send him to school and university. He was then educated at Uppsala University, where he began to write poetry and folk songs. He served as tutor, before being ordained at Kingöping (1809), after which he became an assistant pastor at Normlösa and Hult. During these years he suffered from depression, although writing hymns. He published Psalmer av Hedborn (1812), and collections in 1812 and 1813. He influenced Johan Olof Wallin*, who appointed him teacher at a school for the poor in 1813.
