Ruth Jacobs
JACOBS, Ruth May Krehbiel. b. Trenton, Ohio, 30 May 1897; d. Shawnee, Oklahoma, 30 April 1960. Distinguished church musician, educator, conductor, and author, Ruth was born of the union of Henry J. Krehbiel (1865-1940), a Mennonite minister, and Lydia D. Krehbiel (née Ruth). She spent her elementary school years in Trenton, and attended high school in Reedley, California, where her father was minister of the First Mennonite Church (1910-1938). She attended Bluffton College, a Mennonite school in Bluffton, Ohio, (AB, 1918); and pursued graduate studies in music at the University of California, Berkeley (1919-20), and the Hochschule für Musik, the University of Berlin, Germany, (1922-24)...
