Ruebush-Kieffer Company, USA

History  The Ruebush-Kieffer Company was formed at Singers Glen*, Virginia in 1872 by Aldine S. Kieffer (1840-1904) and Ephraim Ruebush (1833-1924). Originally, ‘Ruebush, Kieffer, and Company’, the name ‘Ruebush-Kieffer Company’ appeared after 1891.  Kieffer and Ruebush were brothers-in-law, Ruebush having married Kieffer's sister in 1861. Kieffer was the grandson of Joseph Funk*, a Mennonite hymnal compiler and printer who had published the successful Harmonia Sacra (Genuine Church Music) at Singers Glen beginning in 1832, as well as the monthly periodical, The Southern Musical Advocate and Singers Friend beginning in 1859.
