Roger N. Deschner
DESCHNER, Roger Neil. b. San Antonio, Texas, 1 December 1927; d. Richardson, Texas, 23 October 1991. Prominent church musician, Wesleyan scholar, and teacher, Deschner attended the University of Texas at Austin, (BA, 1949), Union Theological Seminary, New York City (BD, 1952), followed by graduate studies at the School of Music, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut (1955). He was ordained an elder in The United Methodist Church in 1962. Deschner served as minister of music at Epworth United Methodist Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma (1958-61), and minister of music at First United Methodist Church, Houston (1961-75).
