Robert Lowry
LOWRY, Robert. b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 12 March 1826; d. Plainfield, New Jersey, 25 November 1899. Educated at the University of Lewisburg (later Bucknell University), Lowry was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1854. He was pastor of a church at West Chester, Pennsylvania (1854-58); of Bloomingdale Baptist Church, New York City (1859-61); and Hanson Place Baptist Church, Brooklyn (1861-69). In 1869 he returned to Lewisburg as pastor of the First Baptist Church and professor of rhetoric at Bucknell, which awarded him an honorary DD when he left in 1875.
