Robert Balgarnie Young Scott
SCOTT, Robert Balgarnie Young. b. Toronto, Canada, 16 July 1899; d. Toronto, 1 November 1987. He was educated at the University of Toronto (BA 1922, MA 1924) in Classics, and at Knox College (BDiv 1926). He was also awarded a PhD at the University of Toronto (1928). Ordained to ministry in the United Church of Canada (1926), Scott began teaching Old Testament Language and Literature in Vancouver, at Union College, University of British Columbia, in 1928. He taught Old Testament at United Theological College in Montreal (1931-48), and taught in the Faculty of Divinity at McGill University, Montreal (1948-55), where he served as the Faculty’s first Dean (1945-49).
