Richard Shephard
SHEPHARD, Richard James. b. Gloucester, 20 March 1949. Shephard began his musical career as a chorister at Gloucester Cathedral under Herbert Sumsion (1899-1995). He read music at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he was a Choral Scholar. Having completed his studies, he became Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral School in 1970 and moved in 1974 to a similar position at the Godolphin School, also in Salisbury. In 1982, Shephard returned to the Cathedral School as Deputy Headmaster. During his time in Salisbury he was an alto Lay Vicar in the Cathedral Choir.
