GILLARD, Richard Arthur Moss. b. Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England, 22 May 1953. His family migrated to New Zealand in 1956 and he spent his early years in Auckland, later moving with his family to Northland, where he attended Whangarei Boys’ High School, before returning to Auckland and completing his secondary education at Takapuna Grammar School. He trained to be a primary school teacher at the North Shore Teachers’ College but left teaching early in 1975 and eventually took up work as a warehouseman. He has since retired and now lives in Whangarei.
