Rejoice in the Lord: A Hymnal Companion to the Scriptures (1985)
The General Synod of the Reformed Church in America (see Reformed hymnody, USA*) appointed a committee in 1980 to prepare a new hymnal for the denomination. The committee secured the services of Erik Routley*as its editor. Routley’s career had involved many components: clergyman, teacher, theologian, author, composer, hymn writer, editorial consultant and member of hymnal committees, and long association with the hymn societies and the World Council of Churches. However, being the sole editor of a hymnal was conspicuously missing until this invitation.
The book was the first hymnal project of the Reformed Church in America...
