Put thou thy trust in God. John Wesley* (1703-1791) and others.   This hymn is based on ‘Commit thou all thy griefs’* and ‘Give to the winds thy fears’* by John Wesley, originally a single hymn translated from the German of Paul Gerhardt*, beginning ‘Befiehl du deine Wege’ (Frost, 1962, p. 310).
