Praise to God Who reigns above. Richard Meux Benson* (1824-1915)
This hymn for the Feast of St Michael and all Angels was submitted to the First Edition of A&M (1861), and printed there (according to JJ, p. 904) with alterations. JJ notes that the original text was restored in the Second Edition of A&M (1875), though ‘still abbreviated’. The principal alteration is to stanza 3:
