Paul Bateman
BATEMAN, Paul Eric. b. Muswell Hill, North London, 27 May 1954. He was born into a musical family in Muswell Hill. His grandfather was an amateur pianist, composer and conductor, and his mother trained as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a choirboy at St. James’, Muswell Hill. He was educated at the Stationers’ Company’s School, Hornsey. He later studied piano, organ, singing, and ’cello at the Guildhall School of Music and began his musical life as an accompanist, chamber musician, and opera repetiteur.
In his early working life Bateman lived in Palmers Green, North London, where he was organist at Palmers Green United Reformed Church (URC) in the 1980s and 1990s, also...
