RICHARDSON, Paul Akers. b. Stuart, Virginia, 4 August 1951. Eminent hymnologist, church musician, and teacher, Richardson attended schools in Patrick County, Virginia (diploma, 1969); Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, North Carolina (BM (Bachelor of Music), 1973) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky (MCM (Master of Church Music), 1975; DMA, 1979). He has taught church music and worship, voice, and vocal pedagogy at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1976-95), Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama (professor, 1995 - ), receiving the John H.
