O Father, Thou Who hast created all

O Father, Thou Who hast created all. Albert Knapp* (1798-1864), translated by Catherine Winkworth* (1827-1878).  Winkworth’s translation of this hymn for Baptism was printed in her Lyra Germanica II (1858), with the first line as ‘O Father-heart, who hast created all’, and the last line of stanza 1 as ‘O Father-heart!’ It was entitled ‘The Name’. It was a translation of Knapp’s ‘O Vaterherz das Erd und Himmel schuf’ from his Christen-Lieder.
