First published in Helmbold’s Geistliche Lieder, den Gottseligen Christen zugericht (1575) in eight 4-line stanzas. It was entitled ‘Ein Dancklied, nach essens, und sunst (= ‘sonst’), fur allerley Wolthaten Gottes’ (‘a song of thanks, after eating, and at other times, for all God’s favours’).
