Nobuaki Hanaoka (1)
HANAOKA, Nobuaki. b. Saga, Japan, 25 December 1944. Hanaoka is the paraphraser of the hymn ‘Send your Word’*, originally ‘Mikotoba o kudasai’ in transliterated Japanese by Yasushige Imakoma*. He was eight months old when he escaped death in the bombing of Nagasaki, a catastrophic event that killed his mother and sister. He graduated from Kanto Gakuin University School of Theology in Yokohama, Japan, and continued his theological education at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and Bexley Hall (Rochester, New York) in 1970, receiving the Master of Divinity degree.
