My soul gives glory to my God. Miriam Therese Winter* (1938- ). This is a metrical version of the Magnificat*, or ‘Canticle of Mary’. It was first published in Winter’s God with Us, Resources for Prayer and Praise (1979). Although it then contained some non-inclusive language, and was revised for later publication, it anticipated Winter’s long-term interest in the place of women in the life and liturgy of the church, subsequently found in publications such as Woman Prayer, Woman Song (1987), Woman Word (1990), Woman Wisdom (1991), and Woman Witness (1992).
