More love to Thee, O Christ. Elizabeth Prentiss* (1818-1878).
Written in 1856, during a period of distress, with a final verse added later. Her husband said that it was ‘simply a prayer put into the form of a verse’ (Hustad, 1978, p. 125). It first appeared in leaflet form many years after its composition (1869).
