Michael Robert Newbolt
NEWBOLT, Michael Robert. b. Dymock, Gloucestershire, 27 September 1874; d. Bierton, near Aylesbury, Bucks, 7 February 1956. His father was vicar of Dymock. He was educated at Radley College and St John’s College, Oxford (BA 1897, MA 1912), after which he took Holy Orders (deacon 1899, priest 1900). After a curacy at Wantage, Oxfordshire, he became successively vicar of St Mary’s, Iffley, Oxford (1905-10), Principal of the Missionary College, Dorchester (1910-16), Perpetual Curate of St Michael and All Angels, Brighton (1916-27); and Canon of Chester Cathedral (1927-46).
