Meekness and majesty, manhood and deity
Meekness and majesty, manhood and deity. Graham Kendrick* (1950- ).
Written for a Spring Harvest* event, and included in the CD Make Way for the King of Kings — A Carnival of Praise (1986). It moves from the meekness of Christ’s washing of the disciples’ feet (cf. ‘The Servant King’: see ‘From heaven you came, helpless babe’*) through his crucifixion to his ascension in glory. It has become very popular: beginning with BPW in 1991, it has been included in many subsequent books. Its tune, written by Kendrick and arranged by Christopher Norton*, takes its name from the refrain and is entitled THIS IS YOUR GOD.
