Marjorie Dobson

DOBSON, Marjorie. b. Eldon, County Durham, 6 June 1940. She was educated at Bishop Auckland Girls’ Grammar School, after which she worked in the civil service and in local government. She has been a Methodist Local Preacher from the age of 20, and since the early 1970s she has explored the possibilities of contemporary hymnody in making worship as relevant as possible to young people. She began to write hymns in the late 1980s, some of which were published in the periodical Worship Live (Stainer and Bell). Subsequently her work has appeared in several anthologies, including World of Blessing and Let Justice Roll Down, and in hymn collections such as New Start Hymns and Songs and Songs for...
