Loving Spirit, loving Spirit. Shirley Erena Murray* (1931-2020).
This hymn, written as what the author calls ‘a simple reflection into images of God’, was written in 1986, and has since been used at a number of ordination and commitment services as well as a general hymn.
It was first published in Murray’s New Zealand collection, In Every Corner, Sing: New Hymns to Familiar Tunes in Inclusive Language (Wellington, 1987) where the suggested setting was OMNI DIE, and has since been published in a number of New Zealand, Australian, North American and Asian hymnals such as Alleluia Aotearoa (1993), Together in Song: the Australian Hymn Book II (1999), the Presbyterian Hymnal (1990), the...
