Love is his word, love is his way. Luke Connaughton* (1917-1979).
First published in Sing a New Song to the Lord (Mayhew-McCrimmon, Great Wakering, Essex, 1970). Connaughton, or ‘Peter Icarus’ (pseudonym) was the literary editor of this book, which contained 39 of his hymns. This one was then published in a British Baptist supplement, Praise for Today (1974) and the Catholic Community Hymnal (1974). It achieved wider recognition in Ireland, where it was included in ICH5 (2000), and in Britain in A&MRW.
