Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour. George Hugh Bourne* (1840-1925). Written for the chapel of Chardstock College, Dorset (a Church of England boarding school that existed from 1861 to 1881). According to Ronander and Porter (1966) it was one of seven hymns written for the College chapel. It was apparently first printed in Seven Post-Communion Hymns (1874), privately printed for St Edmund’s College, Salisbury, of which Bourne was then headmaster. It is said to have had ten stanzas, but no copy of this book has been located.
