Let there be peace on earth
Let there be peace on earth. Sy [Seymour] Miller (1908–1971) and Jill Jackson-Miller (1913–1995). The folksong movement of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s produced many songs known for their ease of singing, straightforward texts, and prophetic messages. Broadway actor and writer Sy Miller and his wife, film actress and children’s songwriter Jill Jackson-Miller, collaborated to produce nearly one hundred songs. Their signature composition, ‘Let there be peace’, was first sung at a national convention of Christians and Jews in Ilyllwide Pines, California, where it spread by mouth (Young, 1993, p. 462).
