Komm, o komm, du Geist des Lebens. Heinrich Held* (1620-1659).
First published in Neu-erfundene Geistliche Wasser-Quelle (Frankfurt/Oder, 1658), edited by Johannes Niedling (1602-1668), with the title ‘Am H. Pfingstfest. Auf die 146.Frantzösische Psalmweise.’ It is identified as by Held in the edition of 1667.
It had nine 6-line stanzas. It is found in EG in the ‘Pfingsten’ (‘Whitsun’) section, with the omission of stanza 3:
Zeige, Herr, die Wohlfahrtsstege! Das, was wider dich getan, Räume ferner aus dem Wege; Schlecht und recht sei um und an! Wirke Reu’ an Sünden Statt, Wenn der Fuss gestrauchelt hat!
